The Bangladesh Optometric Society (BOS) is committed to promoting excellence in clinical practice, education, research, leadership, and community service. Through its Awards and Grants Programme, BOS seeks to honour outstanding contributions to the profession and provide opportunities for professional growth and innovation.

BOS Awards

Distinguished Optometrist Award

Presented to optometrists who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professional integrity, and significant contributions to advancing optometry in Bangladesh.

Excellence in Clinical Practice Award

Recognises practitioners who have achieved outstanding standards in patient care, clinical innovation, and evidence-based practice.

Young Optometrist Achievement Award

Honours emerging professionals who have shown exceptional promise, leadership potential, and dedication during the early stages of their careers.

Research Excellence Award

Awarded to individuals or teams whose research has significantly contributed to optometric knowledge, innovation, and improved patient outcomes.

Excellence in Education Award

Recognises educators and mentors who have made substantial contributions to optometric education, curriculum development, and student training.

Community Service Award

Presented to individuals or organisations that have demonstrated commitment to improving eye health through outreach programmes, vision screening initiatives, and public awareness activities.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Society’s highest honour, recognising sustained and distinguished service to the optometric profession over many years.

BOS Grants

Research Grants

Funding support for clinical research, public health studies, educational research, and innovative projects related to vision care.

Student Research Grants

Designed to encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students to undertake research projects and present their findings at scientific meetings.

Travel Grants

Financial assistance for members presenting scientific papers or posters at national and international conferences.

Community Eye Health Grants

Support for projects aimed at reducing avoidable blindness and improving access to eye care services in underserved communities.

Innovation Grants

Encouraging the development of new technologies, digital health solutions, tele-optometry services, and artificial intelligence applications in eye care.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Grants

Assistance for members participating in approved workshops, specialised training programmes, and professional development activities.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Be active members of the Bangladesh Optometric Society.
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional conduct.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements specific to each award or grant category.
  • Submit all required documentation before the announced deadlines.

Selection Process

Applications and nominations will be reviewed by an independent Awards and Grants Committee appointed by BOS. Selection will be based on merit, impact, innovation, professional contribution, and alignment with the Society’s mission and values.
